Joseph P. Kirkman Jr., age 71, of Palm Bay, FL passed away on April 25, 2016 at Kindred Hospital with his family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Gloria (White) Kirkman. Joe was born in Greensboro NC: son of the late Joseph P. Kirkman, Sr. and Dorothy Toomes Reddick, husband Jack.
Joe was the Immediate Past Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 17-2. He enjoyed teaching safe boating classes, doing vessel exams and going on safety patrols. An avid boater, he enjoyed fishing and reading. He was also a member of the Barefoot Bay Yacht Club and the Sebastian River Moose Lodge.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Robert Kirkman, wife Tammie, a daughter Amanda Kirkman and his step children, Irene Costa, Louis R. Costa, Jr. and Jonathan Costa, 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is also survived by his cousins, Brenda Taylor and Buddy Reddick. He was preceded in death by his daughter Amy Kirkman and his stepson John R. Costa.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Ascension Catholic Church in Melbourne, Florida at 12:30 PM.
