In Memory Of
Linda C. Powell
1940 - 2016

Linda C. Powell, 75, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. She had been staying with her daughter Lisa (under hospice care), and peacefully transitioned while holding her hand.

She was born on November 11, 1940 in Macon, Georgia to her loving mother, Allye C. Cavanaugh and to Earl Cannon (both deceased). Her family moved to Sanford, FL when she was a baby, and she has lived in the area ever since. She treasured her children and was a loving and devoted mother to Jeff Powell, Lisa Hotchkiss (Jerry, deceased) and Dan Powell (Lorraine). Linda was an only child but grew up with her "sister" Janice Lancaster. She was proceeded in death by her former husband, Herschel "Buck" Powell.

Linda found great satisfaction in helping others through her various jobs. She worked at a Toy Store, her Church's Bible Bookstore, Edgewood Children's Ranch and retired from the Orange County Property Appraiser's office.

She loved her family and friends (many were lifelong friends). Linda was always a strong Christian and found joy and fellowship with her beloved "Preacher" and church family. She was outgoing and never met a stranger. She was very patriotic and always thanked Veterans and Police Officers.

She loved the ocean and especially dolphins. For her 70th birthday, her children made it possible for her to swim with three dolphins at Marineland! She loved it!
She enjoyed pro basketball, music and loved her two Pixie Bob cats. Linda liked vivid colors and always coordinated her outfits (clothing, jewelry, purses, shoes).

She rarely told people about her health challenges or how badly she hurt or how difficult it was to get around. Many people were surprised when she passed because when she was around friends, she had so much energy and was so animated. Linda was playful, loved to tease (especially her pastor regarding cat vs dog), and often remembered details (that we forgot!) and brought them up to make everyone feel special.

Flowers are welcome. Please consider donations in Linda's name to her Church, Police or Veteran charities.

Linda's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 25 at 2:00 pm, at her "happy place" Westview Baptist Church, 4100 H E Thomas Jr. Parkway, Sanford, FL 32771, #407-323-0523
