Roddy L. Rotramel was a good Christian man who passed away at 90 on August 6, 2016 in Winter Park, Florida.
Rod was born in Hollywood, California on April 23, 1926 to Thomas Oakley and Mary Venita Rotramel. He grew up in southern Illinois and moved to St. Charles, Missouri when he was a Junior in high school, graduating from St. Charles High school and going on to receive a degree in Tool Design Engineering from St. Louis University. Between high school and college he served a term in the Army Infantry in World War II being honorably discharged.
Rod had three siblings, all predeceased, Kent D. Rotramel, Denny D. Rotramel and Diane Rotramel Edwards.
Moving to the Orlando area in 1967, Rod worked for Martin Marietta, then opened a pet shop on Park Avenue. A few years later he entered the real estate field and retired from real estate after selling his business as a realtor in the late 1980s.
Rod valued his family above all save his relationship with the Lord. He married Dorothy Marie in 1949 and shared a wonderful marriage for almost 67 years. They have 2 children, Martha (1956) and Philip (1960).
Rod enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, camping, gardening, woodworking, drawing and painting and the beach. The family has many fond memories participating with him in these activities.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, his two children, Martha Halladay and Philip Rotramel; 10 grandchildren: Tamara Bliss, David Halladay, Daniel Halladay, Mary Halladay Wheeler, Austin Dale, Audrianna Plucinik, Christian Rotramel, Seth Rotramel, Zachary Rotramel and Anthony Rotramel; and 10 great grandchildren.
The legacy that Rod has left behind is a strong one of love and devotion. He will be missed but his family rejoices that he is free of pain and rejoicing in Heaven.
Services will be held on August 20 at 11 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, South Seminole Chapel, 335 E. State Road 434, Longwood, FL 32750 (407) 260-5400. He will be interred at the Florida National Cemetary in Bushnell, Florida (6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513)
