Betty J. Freeman - Rund, 77 of Titusville, FL passed away peacefully at her home on January 17, 2017 surrounded by her loved ones after a brief battle with Ovarian Cancer. Betty was born on June 23, 1939 in Dunbarton, SC to the late Getson Jerrick Burckhalter and Mandy Edna Mitchell.
She was also predeceased by her son, Jesse F. Freeman lll; husband, Lawrence (Ron) Rund; and special friend, Lloyd Behrns. She leaves wonderful memories to her sons, Thomas B. Freeman of Chapel Hill, NC and John D. Freeman of Titusville, FL; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Betty owned and operated a janitorial company in Titusville and served many communities of the Space Coast. Betty was known as the “Latrine Queen” for years.
She will be remembered in the community for her fun loving sprit, zest for life and willingness to help others. Betty was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post 1 where she enjoyed many friendships. Betty was also a celebrated host of many holiday parties where she enjoyed cooking for her friends and loved ones. Betty made sure her home was always open and inviting to all who entered. Betty will be greatly missed, forever remembered, and eternally loved. The world has truly lost a gem like no other, but heaven has gained a star.
Betty’s family has honored her wishes for cremation, a Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Inurnment will take place at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
