1921 - 2017
Born on October 27, 1921, at Christian WV, she was the first child and only daughter of Claude and Zona
(Goodman) Sorrell.
Mrs. Nunley graduated from Man High School in 1939 and received her BS degree in Education from Morris
Harvey College in 1958. She received her MA degree from West Virginia University in 1972. She was a Logan
County educator of 30+ years, most of those as a teacher at South Man Grade School and she retired as
Principal of Mallory Grade School. Upon her retirement, she pursued her interest in genealogy on a
full-time basis and traveled extensively researching her ancestors. This hobby culminated in her membership
in two ancestry organizations of which she was extremely honored and proud: the Westmoreland Chapter
of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) (Ceredo-Kenova, WV), and the
Palm Beach Island (FL) Chapter of the National Society, Colonial Dames XVII Century.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nunley was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ralph
Nunley, grandson Bruce Luna, and great-grandson Bruce Luna Jr, three brothers, Earl, Hudson and Wendell
Sorrell.
Surviving children are Richard (Mary Lou) Nunley, Sandra Luna, Fran Cabanilla and Danny (Christine)
Nunley, all of Titusville; grandchildren Mike (Lori) Luna of Montoursville PA, Tony (Jamie) Luna
Of Titusville FL, Barry Nunley of Orlando FL, Alex (Alexandra) Cabanilla of Bethesda MD, Lisa Schmidt of
Winter Park FL, Christopher Nunley of Tempe AZ, Sandie (Eric) Northcutt of Jacksonville FL. She is also
survived by 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, one brother Mike
(Duwanna) Sorrell of Kistler, sisters-in-law Betty Sorrell of Kistler and Charlotte Sorrel of Madisonville
KY.
Public viewing will be held at Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home in Man on February 16th from 6:00-7:00 pm.
Graveside services will be held February 17th at 11:00 am at Highland Memory Gardens with David Sorrel
officiating. Assisting the family with arrangements was Newcomer Cremation & Funeral Services of Titusville.
