Frances Scarbrough Bowen

Born January 19, 1920 in Henry County, Georgia to Irene Oliver Scarbrough and C.W. Scarbrough and preceded in death by her three siblings, Oliver Scarbrough, Majorie Maddox (nee Scarbrough ) and Bruce Scarborough, she passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on March 11, 2017. Frances was married to Benjamin Franklin Bowen for almost 66 years until his death in 2005.

Enjoying baking, sewing and traveling with her family, she took up golf and painting upon her retirement from Southern Railway in 1985. She was an active member of PEO, an organization that helped young women receive scholarships for college, the Red Hats Society and the Rockdale Baptist Church until her move to Florida in 2012.

Mrs. Bowen is survived by her twin children , Daniel B. Bowen (Kathy) and Elaine Bowen Etheridge; three grandchildren, Brittany Oue (Jonathan), M.Sgt. Michael Bowen and Rebecca Davis (Tom) five great grandchildren; Benjamin, Jon, Rachel Oue , Katie and Alex Annotti; a niece Yvonne Maddox Peterson , and many other extended family members. A graveside service will be held on April 22nd in Rockdale County, Georgia.
