He was a 1958 graduate of Man High School, attended Marshall University and was a US Navy Veteran. He was employed by the Amherst, Island Creek and Belva Coal Cos.
He retired from the Kennedy Space Center/Cape Canaveral Air Force station complex after 26 years of service as an electrician. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed working for various ministries at church.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lou (Combs) Nunley, his son Barry Nunley of Orlando, FL, two sisters, Sandra Luna and Fran Cabanilla, one brother, Danny Nunley and his wife Christine all of Titusville. Additional survivors include four nephews, two nieces, plus a host of extended family and friends.
Public viewing will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home on May 18, 2017 from 6PM - 8PM. Funeral services will be held on the 19th at 11AM with burial at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens on Garden Street to follow immediately. Rev. Pat Leverington and Rev. James Foster officiating.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations are made in Richard's name to the First Baptist Church of Mims Roof Repair Fund, where he held memberships.
