Linda Sismour

It is with great sadness that the family of Linda (Mayer) Sismour announces her passing after a respiratory illness, on Saturday, March 10, at the age of 66 years. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 45 years, Al, her children, Michael and Katie, her son-in-law, Rob, her grandchildren, Austin and Brianna, and her siblings Bob (Dawn) Mayer and Susan (Bill) Atwood. She will also be greatly missed by many extended family members and friends.

A native of York, PA Linda attended the University of Pittsburgh and received a bachelor's degree in nursing in 1973. She worked as an orthopedic nurse and taught nursing until she moved to Florida with her family in 1982. She returned to nursing in the late 1990’s spending the intermediate time focusing on community development including K-12 fundraising and holding multiple offices in the local and county PTA, having served as PTA president for close to a decade. This allowed her time to focus on her family while giving back to the community. Following her retirement, she focused on her role as "Mimi" (grandmother) to her grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, March 13, from 1:00 - 3:30 PM (viewing 1:00 - 3:00; memorial service 3:00 - 3:30, Rt. Rev. Dr. Bill Atwood officiating) at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 335 East State Road 434, Longwood, FL 33750. Following the service, Linda will be laid to rest at 4:00 PM at All Faiths Memorial Park, 1390 Park Drive, Casselberry, FL, 32707.

In lieu of flowers, Linda's wishes were for memorial donations to the American Lung Association.
