Salome Aljendrino Melendez, age 88, of Orlando, Florida passed away at his home with his family on Monday, May 7, 2018.
Salome was born on October 22, 1929, son of the late Alejo Melendez Lopes and Fidelina Legrand in Vieques, Puerto Rico. He honorably and faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Marines during the Korean Conflict. Salome worked as a foreman in New York City and later as a maintenance supervisor for a church before retiring to Orlando.
Salome is survived by his loving wife, Iris (Quinones) Melendez; his four daughters, Yvonne Melendez, Diana Pabon and her husband Angel, Jacqueline Rivera and her husband Manuel, and Haydee Melendez; six grandchildren, Iris Arie and her husband Remington, Jennifer Paulding, Suzanne Paulding, Jason Dertinger, Eric Pabon and his wife Jenna, and Ryan Pabon; five great-grandchildren, Blair Arie, Marcella Paulding, Natalie Pabon, Benjamin Pabon, and Audrey Pabon; and two brothers, Hildo Melendez and Genaro Melendez.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carmen Melendez; and his grandson, Marc Melendez.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Good Shepherd Church, Orlando, FL, with Fr. Bino Francis officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery.
