Goldie was born in Montana Sept. 6, l919 to Ano and Ino Julmala. She peacefully went to Heaven in her Mims home under the loving care of her family and Hospice of St. Francis.
Survivors include sister, Ina Tullinen (CA), daughter Jody Pruitt (TX), granddaughters Heather Bezzina of Titusville, Kara Mackey of Astor amd Alicia Palmer (TX); grandsons Mark Mackey of Apopka and John Dean Pruitt (TX); cousin Verna Mueller (WI); seven great-granddaughters and six great-grandsons. Goldie was pre-deceased by her husband Adolphus John (A.J.) Dean in l995, daughter Karlina, and great-granddaughter Mykala Ross (TX).
Goldie and A.J. married in l941 in Washington, D.C. She worked at the Pentagon while A.J. was at sea. They lived on Navy bases until l957, when they went to Turkey for his last assignment.
Goldie was proud of her Finnish heritage. They adopted their first child, Karlina, in Finland.
A.J. retired from the Navy in l958 when they returned to the states. They moved to Alaska for ten months, where A.J. worked with Ina's husband in home-building They moved to Florida and A.J. worked at the space center. They adopted their second child, Jody, in l963. Goldie taught school for many years at Mims Elementary.
They were members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she was very active in volunteering. She taught Sunday School and Bible School, served on Altar Guild, was usher, offering counter, Bereavement chairman, and assisted in the office, helping pepare newsletters for mailing, and the weekly bulletins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 10th 2012 at ll:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2073 Garden St., Titusville, FL 32796. She will be laid to rest with A.J. at Brevard Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good Shepherd Building Fund, Hospice of St. Francis, or the local Humane Society.
