Elsa was born June 14, 1931 in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, to the late Juan and Margarita Berrios and was one of four children. Elsa, was a most loved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Elsa was married to her childhood sweetheart, and loving husband of 62 years, the late Rafael Mario Rivera-Ortiz. She is survived by her sons Jose, Orlando, Michael, Carlos; daughters, Nereida, Sonia; and, 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A devoted Special Forces wife for 30 years, Elsa managed the home front during her husband’s military assignments at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, as well as tours in Panama and Okinawa. Elsa served as a Minister of the Eucharistic at Good Shepherd Catholic Church and was a Committee member with the Orlando, Florida Puerto Rican Association. Elsa also served with distinction as an Orange County election poll volunteer and American Red Cross volunteer.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, June 28 from 4PM to 6PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 Goldenrod Rd.
A Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 5900 Oleander Drive, on Monday, June 29 at 10AM.
Interment will follow, at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL.
