In Memory Of
Donald B. Jones
1929 - 2015

Donald B Jones, 86, of Orlando entered into rest on November 25, 2015. He was born in Windermere, Fl on April 12, 1929. Donald married Catherine "Kitty" Jones on October 5th, 1952 and celebrated 62 years of marriage before she passed away in December of 2014.

Donald joined the Navy when he was 17, served for three years. He then joined the Air Force for the next twenty three years, where he served in the Korean War, Vietnam, and served as Communications Specialist on the Apollo Recovery mission. He taught U2 pilots to code and decode communications during the Cuban Missile Crisis, but declined an invitation to serve in the CIA to be with his family instead. He retired from the service in 1969 and began a seventeen year career at the US Postal Service.

He retired in 1987 to spend springs and summers in their Smoky Mountain cabin in Robbinsville, NC, where he enjoyed trout fishing, gardening, birdwatching, smoking cigars, and a glass of cold duck.

Donald was an eternal optimist with a big heart, a man of impeccible integrity who always sacrificed for his family, a selfless man who lived "pain free" until the day he died.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, their son Donald B Jones Jr and grandson Jason D Vaught. Donald is survived by his children Ronald and Yolonda "Diane", 7 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Saturday November 28, 2015 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, FL 32825. Interment will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetary Road, Gotha, FL 34734.
