Bernard K. "Murph" Murphy, a resident of The Great Outdoors, Titusville, Florida, passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Edward M. Poe Hospice Care Center, Hospice of St. Francis, Titusville, Florida, after a lengthy illness. He was born on September 27, 1935 in Ashland, Maine to the late Clarice and Clarence Murphy.

He was predeceased by his son, Wade Murphy and a brother, Stanley Murphy. He is survived by his wife Lorraine, his brothers, Clarence, Elbert and Melvin Murphy, sisters Flora Cyr and Andrea Soucier, daughter and son in law Jill K and Robert Brooks of Cheshire, Connecticut, son Jack Murphy of Virginia, daughter and son in law, Lorrie and Tony Del Monte, of Ocala, Florida and Paula L. and Phil Carlson of Concord, North Carolina; his grandchildren Dylan and Caley Brooks, Krissy Vincent, Josie Flynn and Bobby Brooks, Erica Gates, Meagan and Kyle Murphy, Jimmy Ollari and Christopher Carlson and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He served in the United States Army for 21 years, retiring as Master Sergeant in 1974. A recipient of the Bronze Star he received many military honors while stationed in Korea, Vietnam, Germany and Japan. He then served for 21 years in teh Civil Service being in charge of military housing for the State of Connecticut.

In Cromwell, Connecticut, he and his wife, Lorraine, owned and operated Sawmill Pub "Little Steak House" and Ambler's Eatery. In 1990 they moved to The Great Outdoors in Titusville, Florida where they have been continually involved in the hospitality and service to the community.

His greatest joy was joining friends in The Great Outdoor pool and most mornings you would find him there.

The family wishes to acknowledge the excellent care provided by Edward M. Poe Hospice Care Center and the incredible love, compassion and support of The Great Outdoors community.

A Memorial Service will be held at The Great Outdoors Community Church on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 10 AM, to be followed later in the day by a Celebration of Life at The Plantation Manor at The Great Outdoors at 5 PM.
