Born December 1, 1934, in East Alton, Illinois, she was the daughter of William Mitchell Blair and Pearl Smith Blair. She married the late Wallace (Wally) Ronald Rostek on August 29, 1954.
Shirley and her family moved from Illinois to Miami in 1959 and settled in Titusville the following year.
A retired accountant for United Space Alliance, Shirley's years in the aerospace industry spanned from unmanned missions to the Space Shuttle program. A nature lover, Shirley enjoyed camping in national parks with her husband and their lifelong friends Wanda and Scott Kwansy. She loved playing cards with her friends at the North Brevard Senior Center and keeping in touch with friends and family on Facebook.
Shirley will be remembered by her family and friends as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her son Wynn Rostek and daughter-in-law Suzanne Rostek; daughter Linda Rostek and son-in-law Arthur Grunenfelder, Jr; daughter Jill Belflower; brother James Blair and sister-in-law Sara Blair; sister-in-law Carol Ater and brother-in-law Lyle Ater; grandsons Jason Grunenfelder and Russell Edwards III; granddaughter Amber Belflower Owens; great-grandaughters Jaylynn Grunenfelder and Savanna Owens; great-grandson Evin Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews including local residents Karen Ogden and Cathy Cox.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, November 8, at the Newcomer Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 2400 S. Washington Ave., Titusville. The family would appreciate memorial contributions to the North Brevard Senior Center or the SPCA of North Brevard in lieu of flowers.
