Richard Glenn Landis, Sr died April 10, 2018 in his home in Titusville, Florida. Born on
May 14th, 1949 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the beloved son of Menno E. Landis and the late
Virginia Landis.
A 1968 graduate of CASHS, Dick was interested in history and especially family ancestry.
An artist and a superb athlete, he played linebacker for the Semi-pro Chambersburg Cardinals
and Yellowjackets. In 2008, he was inducted into the American Football Association SemiPro
football Hall of fame in Canton, OH, and in 2009 the Minor Pro Football Hall of fame in
Pittsburgh, PA, receiving rings for each.
He worked for his father’s company, M.E. Landis Aluminum and was eventually a co-owner.
A three story fall from a ladder, while working, led him to selling the business and moving to
Florida for warmer weather. He had come close to death several times throughout his life,
Dick joked that he was like a cat with 9 lives. An animal lover of many, his most recent and
favorite were Rocky the Toy Fox Terrier and Buddy the Boxer.
Dick enjoyed sports cars and listening to loud music, mostly country music. Ironically, his life
was like an old country music song. Loved hard, played harder and in his younger days, always
looking for a good time. He was the life of the party and people were drawn to him, Dick was
always helping his friends. He was a member of the Brethren Fellowship Church of
Chambersburg, PA.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Spidel Landis, seven children: Lori Bothe, Shiela Souders,
Rusty Landis, Richard Glenn Landis Jr, Sienna Landis, David Dague and Kevin Dague.
He has eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is survived by four siblings,
Gene Landis and companion Phyllis Libby of Fayetteville, Patti Gable and husband Robbie of
Chambersburg, Connie Teissier and husband Luis of Houston, Texas and Michelle Myers and
Owen of Marion, PA.
His desire was no service and requested to end with…Dick Landis has left the building!
