Albert was born on December 4, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Bartholomew and Mary (Karpavicius) Mikalauskas. He proudly served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946. On, June 7, 1947, he married Gertrude Blake. Albert worked for many years for the New York City Transit Authority as a bus driver and later a dispatcher before his retirement to central Florida. He was an avid gambler who loved to play craps. Albert will be remembered as a loving father and a devoted husband.
Albert is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Gertrude Michaels; his daughter, Mary Ann Healey and her husband Terrence; and a cousin, Gloria Preston.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stephen Michaels; his sister, Adele Mikalauskas; and his brother, Raymond Mikalauskas.
Visitation will be at Newcomer Funeral Home - East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, on Friday, September 14, 2018, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Good Shepherd Church at 10:00 am with Fr. Bino Francis, officiating.
Interment with full military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
