John J. Murray, age 89, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Florida Hospital.

John was born on January 13, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late John J. Murray, Sr. and Catherine (Hickey) Murray. From 1949 to 1952, John proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict Era. When he returned to civilian life, he worked for over 35 years as a routeman for the New York Daily News before his retirement to Central Florida. He will fondly be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather with a love for music, a good sense of humor, a great appetite, and who worked hard to provide for those he cared about most.

John is survived by wife of over 60 years, Dolores (Plain) Murray; his daughter, Dolores Muller and her husband Richard; his son, John Murray and his wife, Carol; four grandchildren, Kimberly Stokes and her husband, James, Tracy Stewart and her husband, Shaun, Jack Murray, and Thomas Murray.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Eileen Miller; and his brother, Lawrence Murray.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 12 Noon at Newcomer Funeral Home - East Orlando Chapel, with Deacon Don Warner officiating. The United States Naval Honor Guard will render military honors immediately following the service.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
