Mary Jeanne “MJ” Hussey was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Superior, WI on January 16th, 1932 to Sarah and Edward B. Malchow. After having moved to Detroit, Michigan she attended and graduated from St. Theresa Parish High School where she met the love of her life, John Hussey. They have been happily married for 66 years. Together they raised eight children, and after having accomplished the bulk of this life’s work she went back to college and graduated as a registered nurse in 1978, serving others in this capacity until her retirement.

She was a lover of many dogs and cats who were her “other” children, her home reflected her love of all things Irish, and she was a big fan of all of Detroit’s professional sports teams.

Mary Jeanne is survived by her husband John Hussey; daughter Laura (Michael) Laughner, Colleen McKeague, John (Karen) Hussey, Kayte Snodgrass, Timothy (Julie) Hussey, Kevin (Mary) Hussey, and Eileen (James) Scherff. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Cristin, Patrick, Ian, Sarah, Meghan, Leeanne, and Kyle; great-granddaughters Victoria and Delaney; great grandsons Declan and Cole.

She was preceded in death by son Patrick Hussey and grandson Bryan Dougherty; father Edward B. Malchow and mother Sarah Malchow; sisters Elizabeth (Betty) Kewer and Kathleen (Jerri) Macdonell, and brother James E. Malchow.
