In Memory Of
Albert V. Manalad
1933 - 2019

Albert V. Manalad, 85 years young, passed away February 14, 2019 with his family by his side at Cornerstone Hospice located in Orlando, Florida.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Gilda Manalad; children, Jennifer M. Hawke, Gilbert Manalad and Mark Manalad; his grandbabies who he loved dearly, Kristen Manalad and Mya Manalad.

Upon immigrating from the Philippines to the United States he obtained a job at United Parcel Service (UPS) as a loyal and hardworking packaging supervisor for 25 years where he was known as Big Al. That hard work enabled Albert and Gilda to raise their children in affluent and family orientated neighborhood in Darien, Illinois.

After a few years of retirement Albert and Gilda decided to relocate to Orlando, Florida in 1996 and spend their golden years. Actively involved at St. Joseph Catholic Church, he served the Lord faithfully as Head Usher until the time of his death.

Albert was a friend to many. He was always ready to lend a hand to a friend in need, give advice to a person lost, and to love those who were alone. Albert was known for his ability to work with his hands and ingenuity in problem solving. His love of cars, machinery, and a good chat with a friend over a cold beer signified this man’s love of life.

Most important to Albert, however, was his family. He is remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and adoring grandfather. Almost 55 years of devoted and happy marriage to his wife, Gilda, is celebrated with his three loving children and two granddaughters. Those who knew him had no doubt that Albert’s family was at the center of his every thought and action.
