Rose André René, 72, of Orlando, passed away on December 2, 2019 at Advent Health East Orlando.

Rose was born on July 28, 1947 to the late Emmanuel and Yvana (Salmon) Desgrottes in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. On April 12, 1969, she married the love of her life, Ernst. Rose worked for over 20 years as a nurse’s aide until she retired in 2007.

Rose, affectionately known as "Mommie", the mother of the neighborhood. Mommie and Poppie moved to the United States in the early 1970's, where she and Poppie worked at Florence Nightingale Nursing Home, New York, NY for over 20 years as a nurse's aide. Raising five children, aided in the support of her siblings, and her husband's family. Rose was and still is a faithful servant of God, her last church she attended was Eglise De Dieu Maison De Reconfort, where she served on the women's board under the leadership of Pastor Raoul Charles in Orlando, FL. Mommie was all about her husband, her children and her grandchildren. She always stated that the reason she had five children, the youngest being 29 years old (an oops baby), that the house would never be without laughter, joy, and lots of love. As a wife, she went above and beyond the duties of a spouse. As a mother, she was the lioness that nurtured, protected, and educated her cubs. As the oldest sibling, she guided her other siblings in the absence of their mother. As a daughter, she helped care for her elderly father during his last days. As a friend, she counseled, mentored, was loyal, and remained dependable.

Rose is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Ernst; two sons, Jude Warren René of Orlando, FL, and Dominick A. René of Orlando, FL; three daughters, Mary Alston and her husband, William, of Covington, GA, Kathy René-Moulton and her husband, Dean, of Orlando, FL, and Jessica René-Hazlett of Orlando, FL; nine grandchildren, Khadeeja René-Jenkins, Dean Moulton, II, Giovanni René, Zeain Hazlett, Zyanna L. R. Hazlett, Madison Gill, Savanna Thomson, Zariah E. René, Khari René; two brothers, Schiller Desgrottes and his wife, Marys, of New York, NY, and Pascal Desgrottes of Haiti; and two sisters, Joelle Seide and her husband, Ambroise, of Orlando, FL, Yvanne Martelly and her husband, Raymond, of McAllen, TX. She is also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, church family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 13, 2019, 11:00 am at the Union Park Church of the Nazarene, 1670 N Chickasaw Trail, Orlando, with Pastor Raoul Charles, officiating.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 13 preceding the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the church.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Casselberry, FL.
