Joanne Gillespie, age 71 of Orlando, Florida passed away on the morning of January 2, 2020 in her sleep peacefully at home. It was on this day that Joanne lost her long battle with ALS / Lou Gehrig’s Disease, as she had been living life and doing well since her official diagnosis of the disease in December of 2013, with symptoms of the disease appearing almost twelve months prior.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Miriam Saunders, and her father, Raymond Saunders.

She is survived by her loving son and caregiver for the past five years, John Gillespie, brother, Simon Saunders (and wife Carol Saunders), and brother Bill Saunders (and wife Donna Saunders), there are also many nieces, nephews, and cousins locally and in Canada where Joanne was born.

Visitation will precede the services that will be held at Newcomer, South Seminole Chapel in Longwood, Florida. There will be a brief reception following the services at Newcomer before internment at the cemetery.Internment will follow the services, at the Edgewood / Greenwood Cemetery in Apopka, Florida.

Joanne will be laid to rest in the cemetery to be followed by her son John one day in the future.
