Ivan Carbia-Benitez
1941 - 2020

Ivan Carbia-Benitez, age 78, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020 in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Ivan was born on October 10, 1941 in San Juan, Puerto Rico to parents Jose Carbia and Gloria Benitez.

He served his native island and his nation in the United States Army National Guard and the United States Air Force. It was while serving in the Air Force supporting base operations that he found his lifetime love and interest in airplanes. He was a Captain for Puerto Rico International Airlines (PRINAIR), Caribbean Airlines (CaribAir), Eastern Airlines, and Flamenco Airways.

Ivan had a passion for modeling hobbies. He invested his time in model trains and cars, and spent hours paying attention to detail.

Ivan spent his retirement years with his soulmate, Quyen “Lily” Jarvis. Together they sailed on many Caribbean cruises and spent time in the beautiful country of Vietnam. It is there that Ivan had extended family who loved him dearly.

He is survived by his soulmate of 15 years Lily, sister Waleska, sons Ivan, Enrique, and Jose, daughters Ivelisse and Maria, and 11 grandchildren.
