With profound grief and sorrow the family of Luz Clavijo announce her passing at the age of 92. On August 5th, 2020, in accordance with her wishes, she took her final breath at her home in Orlando, Florida surrounded by her family. Luz was raised in a Catholic family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She raised her kids with so much caring, love, understanding and compassion. "ABUELITA" is how everyone lovingly called her. Luz was a strong and vibrant woman who throughout her life gave of herself, constantly helping those in need, an angel that brought so much peace to every one that got to meet her. Her wise advice will be missed. Her sweet smile will be missed. Her presence will be missed. Luz was grateful to God for every accomplishment in her life. Let's remember her with the same happiness and joy that she always had.

Luz is survived by her cherished children, Julio Merchan, Helen Merchan, Raul Merchan, Sor Victoria Merchan, Nieves Merchan, Ruben Merchan, Esther Merchan, Martha Merchan and Nancy Betterman; her brother, Luis Clavijo; and sisters, Esthella Clavijo and Zara Clavijo. Luz was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 10:30 AM followed by a graveside service at Chapel Hill Cemetery at 12:30 PM. A reception will be held after the graveside service at Baldwin-Fairchild at Chapel Hill from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
