Jerry G. Weber
1936 - 2020

Honoring a life well lived. On September 18, 2020, Jerry G. Weber (husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather) 84, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side after a courageous fight against Parkinson’s Disease.

Jerry was born September 17, 1936, to Raymond and Kathleen (Kelly) Weber in Benton Harbor, Michigan, where he grew up and graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1954 and had the opportunity to play football. He met the love of his life Barbara A. Beedon in 1953 at a basketball game and was introduced by Jerry’s good friend Jim Postello. Barbara was younger and still in school so off to the service Jerry went and joined the U.S. Marines. He went into the Reserves in July of 1954 and went active in October 1955. He served his country for 4 years returning in October 1958 and marrying his love on November 29, 1958.

Jerry went to work in the construction industry and learned the trade of brick mason. He worked for a private construction company building residential homes in the Berrien County area of Michigan. In 1970 Jerry went to Florida with his parents looking for work in the winter months since construction slowed down in Michigan. Missing his family he went back to Michigan. Two years later in April of 1972 Jerry and Barbara decided to make another attempt at living in Florida so they loaded up the family (4 children) and off they went to warmer weather. Disney was open and Jerry found an abundance of brick mason work. With Jerry having the skills and Barbara having the push and willingness to take the risk they created their own business, Weber & S.D.W. Masonry, in 1973 with Jerry specializing in masonry fireplaces. They later dropped “Masonry” from the name since the company did all types of residential construction. Jerry’s 4 children and several grand children all worked in the family business and the company continues today being run by his oldest son Mike Weber and son-in-law Bob Matherly. Jerry took part-time retirement at 55 which allowed him to travel with Barb and when they were back in Florida he helped out with the business until he was 61.

Jerry loved the outdoors, fishing, camping, hunting, snowmobiling, and traveling. Jerry enjoyed those activities in Michigan teaching them to his four children (and later grandchildren) and he continued that passion after moving to Florida. He was an avid fly fisherman, salt water and fresh water fisherman, shrimper by moonlight when the tides were right at Oakhill, snorkeled for scallops in the Gulf off the Homosassa River, and certified scuba diver diving for lobster in the Florida Keys and even ice fishing the frozen lakes while living in Michigan. Jerry and Barb traveled overseas to 6 countries, cruises to the Caribbean Islands, 2 trips to Alaska, a trip to Hawaii, and eventually all 50 United States in their RV along with Canada and Mexico. Along with Jerry loving the outdoors he learned to play tennis at age 46, spending time with family and friends which usually included a card game or another table top game, and he loved dancing with his beautiful wife Barbara. He was a member of the BPOE/Elks since 1980 where they frequented when in town and on their travels and always ended their evenings with dancing. Jerry never met a stranger and was full of witty humor which made him become your next best friend. Jerry wasn’t fond of long hair just ask his daughter-in-laws and grand-daughters but they all looked forward to his jabs and giving it right back, a memory they will treasure.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

Jerry is survived by his wife Barbara A. (Beedon) Weber, Winter Park, FL. They were married 61 adventurous years. Son, Michael (Patricia) Weber, Oviedo, Daughter, Nancy (Bob) Matherly, Oviedo, FL, Son, Timm (Alice) Weber, Vero Beach, FL, Son, Kent (Brenda) Weber, Mascotte, FL, Brother Leman (Melita) Weber, Ryan, OK. Eleven grandchildren, Scott, Maren, Todd, Craig, Megan, Lanie, Paige, Dayna, Halie, Mattie, and Amelia. Eleven great-grandchildren, Jackson, Evelyn, Jameson, Callie, Liam, Novalie, Hensley, Taiga, Rowan, Caeden, Sadie, and his 12th will join this family in January 2021.

Jerry’s family will float his ashes in the Gulf of Mexico on November 29, 2020, which would have been Jerry and Barbara’s 62nd Anniversary. The family looks forward to this boat parade and celebration of his life.
Jerry was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2014. He and Barbara welcomed the support of the PACF (Parkinson Association of Central Florida) through Movement is Medicine, pedaling classes, monthly support group meetings, yearly convention, and Walk for Parkinson Disease. In lieu of flowers we ask for donations to be made to the:
