Linda Lou Rudy
1951 - 2021

Linda L. Rudy, 69, died of natural causes unexpectedly on January 7, 2021, at her home. She was born June 24, 1951, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of Tilden Hopewell Hockman and Anna Catherine (Orndorff) Hockman.

Linda graduated from Strasburg High School, class of 1969, in Strasburg, Virginia where she grew up. She was a very friendly person and never met a stranger. She found it very easy to carry on a conversation with just about anyone. Linda was a beautiful lady. Her smile could light up a room and her laugh was contagious. Those who knew her also knew that she loved God. One Sunday afternoon, in 1990, she invited her future son-in-law, over to her house to go to church with the family. Time started to slip away and the window to get to church on time narrowed. Linda made a split decision rather than showing up to church late, she would have a small church service in the basement of her house. She even went so far as to invite other family members to come over too. The good news of the gospel was presented with a personal invitation to receive Jesus into their hearts. That day, Linda, was the one who raised her hand to receive Jesus. She raised it so high with tears streaming down her cheeks as she proclaimed, “I did it!” Because of that eternal decision, we, who are left behind, take great joy knowing that we had some small part in her coming to know Jesus and we also take great comfort in knowing that we will see her again someday in heaven.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Carroll Rudy, two sisters Wanda Hockman, and Janet Hockman, and a brother Earl Hockman.

Surviving is her son, Brian Shell (45), in Orlando, Florida and her daughter Christina (Shell) Rice, (49), and husband Barry Rice, in Longwood, Florida along with six grandchildren, Cailah (Rice) Garcia, and her husband Gabriel Garcia, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Joshua Rice, Cassie Rice, Carleigh Rice, Camryn Rice and Jaxson Rice; one sister Joyce Downey of Mt. Jackson, Virginia; and nieces and nephews.

A “Celebration of Life” Service will be held this Sunday, January 24, 2021 at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd. Orlando, FL 32822 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
