In Memory Of
Joey Hammett
1956 - 2021

Joey Hammett, florida native and newly retired, passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer on Feb 24, 2021 at the age 64.

Joey was born in Miami on April 6, 1956. Growing up he love riding dirt bikes, fishing, and skiing. In High School he met the love of his life Bev Hammett at his local church. March 5, 1977 he married his soul mate at Pembroke Road Baptist Church. After high school he went to College and received a Fire Science degree. He then became a Firefighter with the Pembroke Pines Fire Dept. Life after the fire department included working with his hands designing and engineering.

Family meant everything to him and he would be at every hockey, soccer, football, or basketball game for his loved ones. Joey was an avid boater his whole life. Many hours were spent driving around the lake with children in tow behind. These times meant everything to Joey. Joey was someone that would drop everything he was doing to lend a helping hand. He would be especially eager to lend his talent for handy-work to friends and family working on home or construction projects. Joey was devote Christian with a strong belief in Christ. This close relationship with god helped him get through his battle with cancer.

Joey is survived by his beloved wife, Bev Hammett; cherished children, Rhonda Hammett and Ryan (Kimberley) Hammett; and grandchildren, R.J. Hammett, Josh Posada, Kyleigh Posada and Mason Rodriguez. He is also survived by his siblings, Tom (Debra) Hammett, Kathy (Joe) Stefanelli and James (Gloria) Sharpe; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Lee) Woods; and an abundance of nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Joey is preceded in death by his parents, John Hammett and Katherine Sharpe; brother, Edward Hammett; and step-dad, Jim Sharpe.

A gathering will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - East Orlando Chapel (895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, Florida 32822) with a funeral service at 2:00 pm.
