Donald “Don” Barnett, age 89, of Altamonte Springs, Fl., passed away on March 28, 2021. Don was born July 14, 1931 in Somerset, Kentucky, the son of the late Orville & Vesta (Hail) Barnett. After serving as a pilot in the United States Air Force, Don spent his career as an educator for the Orange County School System, serving as a Phys-Ed teacher at Glenridge Junior High School, a Vice-Principal at Howard Middle School, a Vice-Principal at Oak Ridge High School, and as Principal at Robinswood Middle School until his retirement. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Kenneth and Gerald, and by his loving wife Tina Barnett, whom he married in 1955. He is survived by his and Tina’s three children: David Barnett, Patti (John) Morris, and Kenny Barnett. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Sarah (Brett) Almquist, Jonathan (Brittney) Barnett, and Matthew Morris, as well as three great grandchildren: Everett and Emerson Almquist, and Samuel Barnett. He is also survived by cousins Joyce Mize and Ronald Hail, and niece Leisha Young. A memorial service will be held at a later date in his hometown of Somerset, Kentucky.
