In Memory Of
James F. O'Rourke
1952 - 2021
James “Jim “Francis O’Rourke passed away August 3, 2021. Born in Columbia, South Carolina in 1952, he was the youngest of four children. He is predeceased by his father, Lt. Commander Frank R. O’Rourke, his mother, Betty O’Rourke and his two brothers, Michael and Stephen O’Rourke. He is survived by his sister Michelle Jones; his partner Reb Yen; nephew Eric O’Rourke; nieces: Kyle Weber, Kelly Wright, Jaime Lure and Jenny O’Rourke King; great nephews and nieces: Nick Reno, Oliver O’Rourke, Reese O’Rourke, Ruby Wright, Sean Weber, Ryan Weber; a multitude of cousins; and a large cadre of close friends.
Jim’s passion for music filled and fulfilled his entire life. Jim was a talented and prolific musician, guitarist, songwriter, lyricist and vocalist. From the time he and his brother Steve learned to play guitar in their early teens, he was always in a band wherever he happened to be living! He also did some modeling in his younger days.
Jim was well known in the Orlando musical scene and the “king of cool”. He was generous with his time and musical talent by promoting and encouraging local arts. Often serving as a master-of-ceremonies and host at many clubs and events, he served as a mentor to other musicians and artists.
Jim was a good soul. If the number of friends he had is a measure of life, Jim was a rich man. Jim will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him! In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations are made to The International Fringe Festival of Central Florida, Inc., at website: https://orlandofringe.org.
Memorial service is Saturday October 23, 2021 at 11am with gathering before from 10am to 11am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (Winter Park Chapel).
