Lois Jean Ramey, 80, entered the Lord’s Kingdom on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Palm Garden of Orlando, Florida. Mrs. Ramey was born March 11, 1942 in Almont, Michigan to Jonathan Clare and Florence Irene (Robeson) Bishop.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 60 years, Floyd Ramey, her sisters Thelma (Leroy) Thrush and Marilyn Ploetz, her brother Donald (Donna) Bishop, her sister-in-laws, her children Christopher (Suzanne) Ramey, Jeffrey (Raylene) Ramey, Barbara (Bec) Ramey, and Erzulia Ramey, 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dean Bishop and Dale Bishop, brother-in-laws, and great-granddaughter Sadie Smith.
Lois graduated in 1960 from Romeo High School. She married Floyd on the 28th of April 1962 in Romeo, Michigan. She was a homemaker and devoted mother, loving to make wonderful and playful cakes for their birthdays. She loved her husband dearly and traveled all over the United States for his job and even traveled to other countries with him. Lois was faithful in her devotion to God and took her faith to the mission field with her husband to Haiti. Their mission work brought them to build many churches. She walked several times 5 miles into the wilderness to do so. She loved to cook meals and bake bread during the trips. She also took care of the children in the orphanages they work at. They loved to gather around her and even though she couldn’t speak their language and they couldn’t speak hers, she loved them and they loved her. She continued her work at home as well, making clothes for all the children to send back.
"There will be a celebration of life in Orlando, Florida on June 11th 2022 and another one in Midland, Michigan that will be determined at a later date." More information to come.
Lois was very supportive to the teens of her local church; in lieu of flowers we would ask for you to continue her mission to the teens and please donate to them at ucnorlando.org/teens-2/.
