Retired Technical Sgt. James D. Solomon passed away surrounded by his family at his home on June 14, 2022. He was the son of Franks and Alma Solomon. Jim was born in Ashland, Ohio on March 87, 1937. He moved with his family to Miami as a young child and attended schools there. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on March 17, 1955, at the age of 18. Jim served his country for 21 years as an air traffic controller. During his military career Jim was stationed all over the world including Vietnam, Philippines and Okinawa, Japan as well as many stateside bases.
After retiring from the USAF, He graduated college with a business degree. Jim began his career at the Orlando International Airport working for the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority as an airport operations supervisor for 20 years. During his time there Jim experienced many events including working closely with presidential secret service for the arrivals and departures of Reagan, Bush Sr. and G.W. Bush to the Orlando area. He unfortunately was involved with the event of the B-52 crash in 1972. He also set aside time to provide and host numerous field trips for school aged children. His family, and those close to him shared many unique opportunities that many didn't get to have.
Jim married the love of his life Virginia Simons on January 6, 1972. They enjoyed traveling all over the United States. Jim and Ginny had two children Patrick Solomon and Nicole Little (Dan. They have three grandchildren, Abbey, Colton and Peyton Little. Jim was so proud of of his family and loved spending time with all of them at their home in Georgia. Jim was also very proud of his lifelong partner Ginny. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January 2022.
Jim was a very considerate, gentle, generous man. He loved his family unconditionally. He always put his family first and he will be loved forever and will be greatly missed by his family friends
Jim is survived by his wife Ginny (Simons), son Patrick, daughter Nikki (Dan), grandchildren Abbey, Colton and Peyton Little, his nephew Michael Cianciarulo. He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Alma and his sister Judi.
