Alvin Castro, age 69, passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2026, in Orlando, Florida.
Born in the Bronx, New York, Alvin later made Orlando his home, where he spent the majority of his adult life building a career, raising a family, and creating lasting memories. He earned his master’s degree in engineering from the University of Central Florida and worked as an environmental engineer until his retirement, a profession that reflected both his intelligence and dedication.
Alvin had a deep love for sports, remaining a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He was passionate about history, especially the Civil War and the Battle of Little Bighorn, and could often be found immersed in a book or sharing fascinating historical facts. Music was another great joy in his life—he loved listening to The Beatles, Carlos Santana, and jazz music, and he enjoyed playing the guitar.
Above all, Alvin will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his remarkable breadth of knowledge on countless subjects, and his positive and happy attitude that uplifted those around him. He shared a deep and enduring love with his wife, Sonia, and demonstrated incredible strength and courage during a two-year battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Manuela Castro and his father Arcadio "Cayo" Castro. He is survived by his loving wife, Sonia; his son, Anthony; his sister, Sandra; and his cherished grandson, Jaxson.
Alvin’s legacy lives on through the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the many lives he touched.
