Anna Elizabeth Harter, known for her fiery spirit and unparalleled quilt-making skills, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, in Orlando, FL, at the astonishing age of 92. Born on June 22, 1932, in the picturesque little town of Cherry Tree, Anna was a force of nature, a genuine tornado wrapped in fabric, who excelled at running the family business while also devoting her time to her adoring family and her many beloved pugs – she had enough pugs over the years to create a canine quilt of epic proportions!
Anna’s educational journey culminated in a High School Diploma from the prestigious Orlando High School – a place known far and wide for its rigorous curriculum and extensive pug appreciation club. After a brief stint as a carefree teen, she settled into the role of doting mother and life-partner to her late husband, Leonard Harter, Sr., and their children, including the late and undeniably memorable Leonard Harter, Jr.
Her feisty personality was matched only by her compassionate heart. Anna was a woman who believed in helping others, volunteering her time with Meals on Wheels, because if you couldn’t deliver warm meals with a side of witty banter, what was even the point? She traveled extensively with her family supporting her husband's military career. Upon her husband's retirement, she returned back home to Orlando, FL.
Anna leaves behind her dear daughter, Theresa Harter Miles, along with her son-in-law, Tommy Miles; and cousin, Debbie Hunt.
While Anna has danced her way to the great quilting circle in the sky, she will be remembered not just for her stitches (which were never short of fantastic) but for her ability to bring laughter and love to everyone around her. The world may feel a little heavier without her quick wit, vibrant personality, and the gentle chaos of pugs trotting around her feet. Until we meet again, Anna – may your stitches be everlasting and your pugs always fluffy!
The family would like to thank Cornerstone Hospice of Orlando for their care in her final days. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to them.
A private memorial service will be planned for a later date.
