It is with a sad yet joyful heart that we announce the ascension of Antonio Fidanza to his eternal life in Heaven on August 8, 2025. He was 79 years old.
Tony was, in every way, larger than life. His size was overshadowed only by his personality.
Born in Manhattan on October 27, 1945, to parents Michael and Esther, and raised in the Bronx, Tony attended DeWitt Clinton High School where he was a standout football player.
He joined the NYPD in 1968, starting a legacy that continues to this day.
In June 1976, he married his loving wife, Kathryn.
Tony was promoted to Sergeant in 1986 before retiring from the Police Department in 1988 and becoming a teacher. He moved to Florida with his family in 1993.
Among the things Tony loved most in life were his family, his country, his Yankees and Giants, and his dogs, especially his Doberman Pinschers.
Everything he did, he did it his way.
After leaving such a big footprint on Earth, he now stands tall in Heaven -- on two legs and ten toes.
Surely the world is a better place because he was part of it.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; his siblings, Ann and Michael; his children, Michael and Victoria; and his three grandchildren.
