Arline Eleanor Speers passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, at the age of 101. Born and raised in Buffalo, New York, Arline lived a long and meaningful life devoted to family, kindness, and caring for others.
Arline met the love of her life, Robert Speers, while living in Buffalo. The two became engaged before Robert left to serve as a Marine during World War II in Southeast Asia. Arline faithfully waited for him throughout his service, and upon his safe return, they were married in 1946. Their marriage spanned 46 loving years and was marked by deep devotion, mutual respect, and happiness. Together, they built a warm and loving home and raised three daughters: Cynthia Glanowski, Cheryl Marella, and Cathy Kania.
Arline grew up with five brothers who were fiercely protective of her, reflecting the close-knit family bonds she cherished throughout her life. She worked for the railroad company in Buffalo before becoming a full-time homemaker in the 1940s, dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her family. Later, she worked as an assistant in a realty office at a large apartment complex.
In the late 1980s, Arline and Robert moved to Orlando, Florida, to be closer to their daughters Cindy and Cheryl and their families. After Robert’s passing in 1992, Arline continued to be a steady, loving presence for her family.
Arline was the embodiment of selflessness. She lovingly cared for two aunts, her sister-in-law, and her blind mother until their deaths. Later, she devoted herself to caring for her daughter through a lengthy illness, offering unwavering love, patience, and strength.
She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia and Cathy; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert, and her daughter, Cheryl.
In her later years, Arline was deeply loved by the staff and residents at her assisted living community, where she will be fondly remembered for her kindness, sweetness, sharp sense of humor, and gentle spirit. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel cared for and valued.
Arline’s life was one of quiet strength, enduring love, and extraordinary compassion. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched simply by being herself.
