Arthur Franklin Menton

Arthur Franklin Menton, age 84, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2026.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis William Menton and Ruth Jane Menton. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Gwendolyn Norine Menton, daughters, Jessie Menton, Wanda Menton (son Ryan), Dorothy Menton, and son, Art Delaney (daughter Alyssa and sons Nick and Colton).

Arthur was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving as a A-4 Skyhawk pilot during the Vietnam War. He was a successful businessman who dearly loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and his dedication to powerlifting and health & fitness. He also worked in sales and publishing in the newspaper industry for decades.

Arthur was a well-renowned, seasoned powerlifter who achieved incredible longevity in the sport for decades, actively competing into his 70s and demonstrating an extraordinary strength-to-weight ratio for a master's athlete and his ability to maintain world-class numbers as a senior.

Arthur was a six-time Masters National Champion, with more than a dozen American records in USA Powerlifting and the United States Powerlifting Federation. He won a national championship in his age and weight category for four consecutive decades. He was invited to compete on the U.S. national team, and owned his own health & fitness chain, mentoring athletes. Arthur was inducted into the Texas Powerlifting Hall of Fame in 2006.
