It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ashley N. Nieves, age 33, of Orlando, Florida, on August 27, 2025. Born on June 16, 1992, in Queens, New York, to proud parents Jose A. Nieves, Jr. and Joann Maria Vega, Ashley brought immense joy to her family’s lives. Not long after her birth, the family relocated to Florida, where Ashley grew up and continued to share her love and kindness with all who knew her.
Ashley had a truly caring heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Her strong spirit shone brightly during her time at Advanced Recovery Center where she worked, leaving a lasting impression on clients and colleagues alike with her compassion and dedication to helping others.
Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her beloved children: Jeremiah Kevin Berrios-Colon, Isabella Esther Berrios-Colon, Derric King James McCarter, and J’kai Elias McCarter. Ashley was also a devoted member of Northland Church in Longwood, Florida, where her faith and service to the Lord were guiding lights in her life.
Ashley will be deeply missed by her children, her loving parents, Jose Nieves, Jr. and Joann Vega, and her siblings, Ciara R. Nieves and Jose R. Nieves. She is also survived by her cherished grandparents, Luisa Rodriguez, Roberto Morales, and Jose Nieves Paneto, Sr., along with her niece, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather James Daniel Vega and paternal grandmother Judith Lamboy Nieves."
A Celebration of Ashley’s Life will be held at Northland Church in Longwood, FL, on September 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather and share their memories in honor of her beautiful spirit.
Ashley’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. One of her favorite passages was Psalm 23, which reflects the peace and comfort she found in her relationship with the Lord:
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil…”
