Awilda Rengifo, born August 25, 1948, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026. She was a woman deeply loved by many and someone who touched countless lives through her kindness, compassion, and strength.

Awilda was truly a fighter who approached each day with enthusiasm and determination. Throughout her life, she left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Whether through her professional work or her personal interactions, she always sought to help others and make a difference.

She dedicated her career to serving others as a psychiatric social worker and case manager. Through her work, she offered support, guidance, and care to many individuals and families. Awilda held both an associate and bachelor’s degree, reflecting her commitment to education and to the people she served.

Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a member of Iglesia de Dios Pentecostal. She lived her faith through compassion, generosity, and a genuine love for others.

Outside of her professional live, Awilda was well known for her traditional holiday cooking, which brought family and friends together year after year. She often shared a piece of wisdom that reflected her joyful spirit: “Make sure you enjoy all the foods in life, because one day you’re not going to able to taste anything, and you don’t want to regret not having done so.”

Awilda’s warmth, strength, and love for life will be remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Segundo L Vega; her daughter, Ivonne L Vega; and her beloved grandchildren, Segundo Leonardo Vega Jr and Yarielis Milagros Vega.
