Listen to Obituary

Bernard Paul Raymond, age 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at his home in Oviedo, Florida. He was born on September 9, 1949, in Plymouth, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Valerie Victoria (Bryson) Raymond; his parents, Henry Alford and Ellen Jean (Roberts) Raymond; his brother, Henry Raymond Jr.; and his sister, Sharon Raymond.

A 1967 graduate of Belleville High School, Bernie proudly answered the call to serve his country, joining the United States Navy in 1969 and serving through 1971. On April 8, 1972, he married Valerie Victoria Bryson, and together they raised two daughters, Shiela and Jaime, building a farm life grounded in love, family, and shared memories, all while he maintained a long and dedicated career with Ford Motor Company for more than 30 years.

Bernie was happiest outdoors—hunting, fishing, and enjoying nature in every season. He was passionately devoted to farm life, finding purpose in hard work, open land, and the everyday moments that define a life on the farm. In recent years, he embraced the snowbird lifestyle, spending summers in Houghton Lake, Michigan, and winters in Oviedo, Florida, where he treasured time with his grandchildren. Known for his generosity, kindness, and the smile he carried every day, Bernie touched the lives of everyone who knew him and could often be found on his golf cart or personal scooter visiting with neighbors.

He is survived by his daughters, Shiela (Andrew) Loomis of Oviedo, Florida, and Jaime (Brian) Gadoury of Wilson, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Nathan, Rylan, and Hayden Loomis; and his beloved companion, Denise Bukis of Belleville, Michigan.

A private celebration of life for close family and friends will be held at a later date.
