Brian Allen Oakman

Brian Allen Oakman of Oviedo, FL, age 48, closed his eyes on Jan 8, 2026 after a courageous 8-year struggle with end-stage renal disease.

He is survived by his five children, Zoe Oakman, Carter Oakman, Rilee Oakman, Gavin Oakman, and James Larro (Camie). He is also survived by his mother Jodie Autieri (Chip) and father DuWayne Oakman, of Findlay, Ohio, along with his sisters Kimmie Hillard (Tom), Monica Schiltz, of Findlay, Ohio and Jessica Haas (John) of Los Angeles, California. He is survived by his grandmother Allison Goddard of Findlay, Ohio as well, and his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Goddard. Brian also leaves behind his former wife Julie Scarpitti Oakman, and in-laws John & Mary Ellen Scarpitti.

Brian was born October 1, 1977, in Fostoria, Ohio, and grew up in Findlay Ohio. He was a 23 year resident of Oviedo, Florida. “Another day in paradise,” he would always remark.

He was a former manager of Rent-A-Center. In the year 2002 he co-founded a construction-related business and helped grow that business into a successful enterprise over the last 24 years.

Brian was loving, soft-spoken, forever-an-optimist. It was easy to make him laugh. His favorite way to spend an evening was cooking for his kids, then sitting down for tacos and board games on his big leather couch. His fire, joy, and strength live on in the hearts and faces of the family to which he was so devoted.

Brian deeply cared for his cats (Kermit, Oscar, and Miss Piggy) and showered them with love every single day. He enjoyed keeping up with both the Cleveland Browns & Ohio State, was an avid fan of golfing, and often attended the Daytona 500 with his brother-in-law David Scarpitti.

Brian passed away so incredibly peacefully surrounded by his adoring family. His beautiful brown eyes will go on to cure blindness.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and medical staff at Oviedo and Sanford HCA hospitals.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in memory of Brian to go to Orange County Animal Services to support local animal rescue and welfare.

Visitation is Thursday, January 15, 2026 from 10:00 am to 10:30 am with memorial service starting at 10:30 am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (Winter Park Chapel).
