Bruce E. Flaig, age 67, of Algona, Iowa, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Orlando VA Hospital in Orlando, Florida.
Bruce was born on July 30, 1958, in Algona, Iowa, to the late Max and Marilyn Flaig. On April 30, 1983, he married his wife and the love of his life, Melanie D. Flaig. Together, they shared 42 years of marriage.
Bruce was a graduate of Colonial High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology (Electronics) from the University of Central Florida in 1986, followed by a Master’s Degree in Computer Resources and Information Technology Management from Webster University in 2002.
Bruce had a successful and fulfilling career as a Test and Evaluation Engineer, working for Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and SAIC. During his career, he contributed to many notable projects, including the International Space Station and the Patriot Missile program warning him the nickname "Rocket Man" 🚀.
Bruce was an active member of his church and was a devoted and supportive father and grandfather.
He is survived by his sister, Cheri Flaig-Rudgers; his brother, Jeffery Flaig; his children, Jonathan Flaig and Tiffany Sherman; and his beloved grandchildren, Bradley Sherman, Hannah Sherman, Charlotte Flaig, and Nolan Flaig.
A Christian burial service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 U.S. Highway 1, North Mims, Florida 32754.
