Charlotte R. Phipps

October 21, 1941 — June 10, 2025

Orlando

Charlotte R. Phipps, a beloved mother and dedicated caregiver, passed away peacefully in Orlando, Florida, on June 10, 2025, at the age of 83. Charlotte was born on October 21, 1941, in Nahunta, Georgia, where she grew up and graduated from Nahunta High School.

Throughout her life, Charlotte displayed an unwavering spirit and a commitment to helping others. Although she was not formally certified, she found fulfillment as a nurses' aide, providing compassionate care to those in need throughout her working life. Charlotte's dedication to nurturing others was only rivaled by her cherished role as a mother. She often reminisced about joyful times spent with her husband and children, creating loving memories during visits to local theme parks.

In her pursuit of adventure and a life beyond her small-town upbringing, Charlotte joined the Army and proudly served in the Women’s Army Corps. This decision reflected her desire for exploration and growth, qualities that she carried throughout her life.

Charlotte was known for her sassy and sarcastic personality, traits that endeared her to those around her. Her family will fondly remember her not only for her wit but also for her pride in her accomplishments; her tomato garden each year stood as a testament to her nurturing spirit and love for the earth.

Charlotte is survived by her devoted daughter, Michele McKinney, and her husband, Will, as well as her son, Shawn Phipps, and his wife, Simone. She will be deeply missed by her family who cherished her humor, love, and unwavering support.

Charlotte is reunited in death with her beloved husband, Bill Phipps; her father, Ivey Herrin; her mother, Eva (Walker) Herrin; her brothers, Roger Herrin and Harold Lloyd Herrin; and her sisters, Eurita Erwin, Myrtle Hogan, Eloise Schutte, Beatrice Abney, and Audrey Faye Gajdarik.

A graveside service honoring Charlotte's life will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha, Florida, on June 16, 2025, beginning with military honors at 3:00 pm followed by a committal service.

Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her, and her legacy of caring will not be forgotten.
