David Warner Blackwood, age 59, of Orlando, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. He was born on October 1, 1965 in Orlando, son to his late parents, Marilyn (Redecker) and Robert Nash Blackwood.
David’s work life took many directions. He began at Scotty’s, home and builder supply, as a retail salesman, truck driver, and manager. He later was very proud to be a million dollar salesman for Scotty’s. During this time he also served on Trinity Downtown’s Property Board. He became Trinity’s full time property manager where he continued to care for the church where he was baptized, confirmed, and married. In 2010, he began work as an independent property manager. Dave had a deep love for history and community. He worked to preserve the history of Trinity and the community that surrounded it by serving on the Historic Preservation Board for the City of Orlando for several years. He became the president of his neighborhood’s voluntary HOA shortly after moving in and continued to serve until his passing. He loved to bring people together and share the stories of the community. He also served on and chaired Orlando’s Code Enforcement Board for multiple terms. In 2012, Dave became an usher at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Oviedo, and later served as an Elder until his passing. Dave had a special place in his heart for Maggie Valley and the Great Smoky Mountains where many memorable vacations were spent. Faith and community were at the foremost of David's heart, and his many stories and dedication to others will be missed.
David is survived by his wife of 27 years, Debra Blackwood; their daughter, Emily Blackwood; son, David Warner Blackwood, Jr.; his brother, Robert N. Blackwood, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer.
