Delma Lourdes Rivera, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on March 23, 1944, Delma was a source of quiet strength, compassion, and unwavering faith to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Delma cherished her family above all else. She is survived by her devoted husband, Julio Rivera, whose companionship and love were the foundations of her life’s joy. Together, they nurtured a close-knit family defined by support, understanding, and deep affection. Her daughters, Edna Garcia, Linda Rivera, and Janette Rivera, carry forward her legacy of warmth and steadfast devotion. Delma’s love also graced the lives of her grandchildren, Bianca Davila, Jarilyn Garcia, and Jaiden Cartagena, each of whom benefited immeasurably from her nurturing guidance. She is also fondly remembered by her son-in-law, Luis Cartagena, and her grandson-in-law, James Futch.
Delma was preceded in death by her parents, Emilio Bonilla and Georgina Torres, whose spirits she honored through her fierce dedication to family.
Throughout her life, Delma was celebrated for her tender, attentive nature—a calming presence whose nurturing ways touched and changed those around her. Her capacity for care was immense; she always made others feel looked after and treasured. Her quiet strength and loving spirit radiated a gentle tenderness and powerful love that left a lasting impression on all whose lives she touched.
Delma’s passions were as vibrant and varied as her joyful heart. She delighted in the beauty of orchids and flowers, marveled at birds—especially owls, cockatoos, and roosters—and cherished the magic she found in unicorns. Cooking for her family brought her endless fulfillment, and the heartfelt aroma of her kitchen will forever remind loved ones of her warmth. Her devotion to her Catholic faith was steadfast; she prayed nightly, trusting in the comfort it brought both herself and her family.
Among the many memories cherished by her loved ones are simple, treasured moments: gathering around the television together to watch The Price is Right, or sitting quietly nearby while Delma worked on crossword puzzles, content in the comfort of her presence and gentle laughter. Her bold spirit and passion for life brought warmth and energy into every room she entered, uplifting all those around her and inspiring them to embrace the world’s joys.
To know Delma was to experience firsthand her caring, loving, and attentive personality. She leaves behind not only memories of laughter and togetherness but also an enduring example of compassion, strength, and heartfelt devotion. Delma Lourdes Rivera will be loved endlessly, missed deeply, and carried in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
