In Loving Memory of Dolarie Rachel Persaud February 07, 1935 – September 10, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dolarie Rachel Persaud, who left us peacefully on September 10, 2024, at the age of 89, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hibernia, Essequibo, Guyana, on February 7, 1935, Dolarie lived a life defined by love, family and faith in her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. As a devoted sister, grandmother, and friend, Dolarie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Dolarie spent the first 40 years of her life in Guyana where she worked as a rice farmer and seamstress making wedding dresses and clothing for her dear friends and family. In 1973, she left her homeland and headed for London, where she worked diligently as a machine operator at Beefeater Gin.
Though she never married, Dolarie played the role of a loving mother to her siblings, nieces, nephews, and grand-niece. She had a gentle heart and was a steady source of support and wisdom for everyone in her life. Her family remembers her not just as an aunt or sister, but as the one who nurtured them all with quiet strength and love.
Dolarie’s greatest joys were simple yet profound. She loved watching Indian movies, singing in church, and following cricket with enthusiasm. Her faith in God was central to her life, and she gave generously to her church and community, regularly volunteering at food pantries and fellowship events. Her kindness and compassion knew no limits.
She is survived by her two devoted sisters, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever cherish her memory. She is reunited in peace with those family members who went before her.
Information on a funeral service to celebrate Dolarie’s life will be posted soon.
