Donald Law of Orlando, Florida passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 20th at 66 years of age.
Donald, fondly known as Don, or Donnie, was born in San Fernando on the Island of Trinidad to Dr. MacDonald and Elsie Law. Upon completion of an advanced secondary education he moved to St. Croix, USVI to reunite with his family. There he found work at the HESS Oil Refinery and met his bride, Angie, at Singh’s restaurant. They soon moved to Florida where he began studying Electrical Engineering at the University of Miami which would later lead him to attain a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Don took a keen interest in Civil and Geotechnical concepts and continued with Graduate Studies in Foundation and Structures, charging on as a UCF Knight.
In June of 1992, Don founded Law & Associates, Inc. a full service Civil Engineering and Surveying firm based in Orlando, Florida. Cultivating a team with a passion for training and innovation, he worked with a diverse community of professionals throughout the state while creating opportunities for those new to construction engineering and materials. Law & Associates participated in a myriad of projects including urban planning and infrastructure, major highways, commercial and industrial developments, and countless single family custom homes. In 2006, he completed his Masters Degree in Business Administration at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Following the great recession of 2008, he continued to navigate available opportunities and returned to the island of St. Croix, eventually establishing VITEST Engineers to provide Civil, Geotechnical, and Construction Engineering services throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands. Donald Law was a long standing member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Central Florida Chapter of the American Concrete Institute (ACI).
Donnie enjoyed action movies, classic muscle cars, culinary endeavors, and spending time with his family on the weekends. He had an undeniable passion for music and loved playing his guitars. As a dedicated member of Liberty Baptist Church Orlando and an active associate with several other churches in the U.S. Virgin Islands, he has helped with many construction projects and special events and lived as a humble example of faithful service to the Lord.
Mr. Law was preceded in death by his mother Elsie (Law-Pelkey), his father MacDonald Augustus Law, and his older sister Evangeline (Bhagwandass). He is survived by his loving wife Angie D. Law; children, Nicholas, Joel, and Christina; grandchildren Isaiah, Levi, and Augusta-Lee; along with his siblings Dave, Rosalie (Taylor), and Emilie (Frantz).
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, February 10th at CrossLife Church in Oviedo, Florida with an Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in East Orlando.
