Doris Deborah Shapiro

Doris Deborah Shapiro, a beloved figure in both her personal and professional circles, passed away on December 26, 2025, at the AdventHealth Orlando Hospice Inpatient Unit. Born on June 22, 1950, in Cheverly, MD, she made significant contributions to the airline industry over a remarkable career spanning more than 40 years with Continental Airlines and later with United Airlines following their merger. Doris thrived in her role behind the scenes, dedicated to obtaining necessary parts for repair to ensure the safe and efficient operation of airplanes.

Doris was not just a remarkable professional but also a vibrant personality who touched the lives of everyone she met. Her warmth and ability to connect with others were evident to all who knew her. She had a rare talent for conversation; no matter the subject, she could engage with enthusiasm and charm, always knowing just what to say. Doris was known for her kindness and optimism, never speaking ill of anyone, which further endeared her to those around her.

In addition to her impressive career, Doris had a profound love for travel, made possible through her airline industry perks. She delighted in exploring the world, with her favorite destinations being Japan, India, and various countries across Europe. These adventures not only enriched her life experiences but also contributed to her captivating stories that would enthrall her friends and family.

Doris leaves behind her cherished son, Mitch Hamburger, and his wife, Allison. 

She was preceded in death by her father, Alexander Shapiro, and her mother, Tille (Krasner) Shapiro.

As we remember Doris, we celebrate her spirit, her unwavering kindness, and the many ways she enriched the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of friendship, warmth, and love will continue to inspire all of us.
