Dorothy Theresa Jordan (Lynch)July 25, 1938 - September 22, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Dorothy Theresa Jordan (Lynch). She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on September 22, 2024. We believe that she was reunited in heaven with the love of her life and husband of 59 years, Kevin Jordan, who passed away on December 27, 2022.
She is survived by her children Kevin Burke (Melissa), Anthea (Murray), Keith (Casey) and Raymond (Joy) her grandchildren Megan, Patrick, Kayla, Bryan, Emily, Michaela, Bridget, Leah and Morgan and her great grandchildren, Erin, Aiden, Katie, Brett, Alex, Jaxon, Elle, Alayna and Joseph.
Dorothy was the third child of 14 to Irish Catholic parents, Thomas and Sally Lynch. She was born in Brooklyn and raised in Freeport, New York. She is survived by 11 siblings: Eileen Scheuring, Tom Lynch, Timothy Lynch, Carol Ann Donnelly, Hugh Lynch, Ann Von Osnabrugge, Kathy McClarry, Elizabeth Lynch, Theresa Reeves, James Lynch and Jean Marlowe. She joined her sisters Joan and Sally in heaven.
Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her. Know for her storytelling and quick wit, she had a unique gift for bringing joy to family gatherings. Her stories, often filled with humor and life lessons, will be remembered. She had a beautiful singing voice and found joy in singing for herself and others. She was creative and could create beauty out of almost anything.
Dorothy welcomed everyone to her home. Family and friends who needed a place to call home for any reason found a cozy spot to stay for as long as they needed.
Dorothy loved to dance, especially with Kevin. They would dance in the living room every Saturday night. They would dance anywhere that music played; parties, weddings, airports and grocery stores.
Dorothy shared her faith in action and example. She was always quick to say “I love you” and “I am praying for you.”
Dorothy believed in sharing what you have with those in need. She collected clothing and other items from everyone she knew. If anyone said they were doing a closet clean out she asked them to drop everything off to her. She would then sort, launder and repair the items, and then she and Kevin would drop them off at Covenant House (for unhoused youth).
Memorial contributions can be made to Covenant House Florida covenanthousefl.org
Dorothy will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her big blue eyes and loving gaze remembered.
