It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Juanita "Nita" Maynard, who left this world on January 28, 2026, in her beloved Orlando. Born on March 19, 1968, Nita was a dedicated homemaker, whose culinary skills were admired, even if she did not enjoy cooking as much as others appreciated her meals. Nita’s greatest pride and joy came from her family, whom she cherished deeply and spent countless joyful moments with, making them her most significant accomplishments in life.
Nita had a remarkable ability to nurture and care for those around her, often referred to as motherly by those who knew her. Her big-hearted nature made her a protector and a generous spirit, endearing her to family and friends alike. Nita's vibrant personality radiated warmth and kindness, as she loved everybody unconditionally.
In her professional life, she excelled as a proud manager in retail, demonstrating leadership skills that inspired those she worked alongside. Nita's educational journey was marked by determination, as she graduated school while caring for a child, showcasing her commitment and resilience.
Nita leaves behind a loving family, including her husband Glen Maynard, her children Desirae, Michael, and Leland Maynard, and her daughter-in-law Shaneeza Maynard. She was a doting grandmother to Ariyah and Alyina Maynard, who were the lights of her life. Nita is also survived by her mother, Ruby Johnston, who provided unwavering support throughout her life.
Nita will be dearly missed by her family, who will forever remember her as a beacon of love and compassion. She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Johnston, her sister Billie Jo, and her son, Ezra Maynard.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on February 7, 2026, beginning at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Orlando, located at 895 S Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, FL 32822.
The legacy of Dorothy Juanita “Nita” Maynard will continue to live on through the memories she created with those she loved. Her spirit, filled with love and nurturing, will always remain in our hearts.
