Dr. Arnaldo Lopez, an esteemed board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, passed away unexpectedly on December 25, 2025, in Samana, Dominican Republic, at the age of 67. Born on December 19, 1958, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, Arnaldo dedicated his life to the compassionate care of his patients, believing firmly in providing exemplary service regardless of their status in life. His commitment to his profession was matched only by his love for his family and friends.

A graduate of the Universidad de Puerto Rico - Rio Piedras, Arnaldo’s journey in medicine was marked by not just his skills but also his unwavering dedication. He was known for his caring and protective nature, always greeting life with a warm smile and a light-hearted joke. Those who knew him cherished his joy, as he had a unique ability to uplift spirits with humor, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.  He was a very humble man, those who met him wouldn't know he was a doctor.

Arnaldo honorably served in the United States Air Force for three years, achieving the rank of captain before embarking on a fulfilling medical career. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he took tremendous pride in his family, which he considered his greatest achievement.  He believed in walking the extra mile, not only for his patients, but also for his family and friends.  Arnaldo could always be counted on to be there.

Arnaldo's approach to life was defined by his strict routines and a passion for various interests. He loved traveling, particularly to Samana, where he envisioned relocating, as well as enjoying American football with a particular affection for Tom Brady. In moments of relaxation, he loved going to the beach and being near the water and in nature, turned to Netflix for movies, appreciated the strategy in dominos, and always found joy in spending time with his loved ones.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ilkania Lopez; his mother, Doris Lopez Roman; his sister, Lourdes Lopez Roman; and his three children, Aimee Trinidad and her husband Andres, Arnaldo Lopez, Jr. and his wife Sabel, and Alejandro Lopez. He delighted in being a grandfather to Catalina Trinidad and Alessandra Trinidad, who brought immense joy to his life. Additionally, he embraced his role as a stepfather to Sophia Ruiz, Valentina Ruiz, and Louis Ruiz, and regarded Wynsynn as a cherished bonus child.

He was preceded in death by his father, Santiago Lopez.

His sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. He will be profoundly missed for his infectious laughter, his warmth, and the genuine care he extended to everyone around him. May his legacy of compassion and love continue to inspire all whose lives he touched.  Arnaldo made a great and positive impact on those that he loved and all who knew him loved him just as much.
