Dr. Kurt A. Gasner, a devoted physician, cherished husband, father, brother, and friend passed away May 8, 2025, at the age of 56.
Born on September 11, 1968, to Robert and Patricia Gasner, Kurt grew up in Rochester, MN graduating from John Marshall High School in 1987. Kurt was an accomplished student and athlete. Recovery from a HS sports injury influenced Kurt in attending the University of Minnesota and its Medical School to pursue his Medical Degree graduating in 1995. Kurt then joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX for his Surgical Internship and Altus AFB, Altus, OK, for his Military Service as a Flight Surgeon through 2000.
Married to Marlene Betancourt in 1996, together they were assigned to Altus AFB in Oklahoma. He then moved with his family in 2000 to Orlando, FL for his Orthopedic Surgical Residency at Orlando Regional Healthcare through 2004 and a subsequent Hand Surgery Fellowship returning him to the University of Minnesota in 2005. He began his Orthopedic Surgical practice in August 2005 at Jewett Orthopedic Clinic in Winter Park, FL continuing to practice through his current position at Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute specializing in hand, elbow and shoulder surgery and hand trauma. A respected doctor, Kurt dedicated his career to healing with sincere care and empathy focusing on listening to his patients’ needs in achieving optimum functional recovery for every life he touched.
Beyond his career, Kurt was an avid sports fan and enjoyed golfing along with attending his daughters’ swimming and track field competitions. He will be remembered for his quick sense of humor, lively dance moves, generous heart, and an ability to make those around him feel loved and valued.
Kurt is survived by his wife, Marlene, and three wonderful daughters, Kendall, Kaitlin, and Mackenzie, and his memory will inspire them as they begin their careers in medicine, law, and accounting, respectively.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at Action Church (1485 Grand Rd Winter Park, FL 32792) at 2pm, where family and friends are invited to celebrate Kurt’s remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dr. Kurt A. Gasner’s honor to the “Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation” drlornabreen.org
